The Portal provides a useful tool to view the journal and receipts for a day's trade at a Site. In this short tutorial we will investigate the POS Journal and Receipt Viewer which can be accessed from the Tools section of the Point of Sale Menu.

Open the Point of Sale Menu by selecting Menus and Point of Sale from the Navigation Menu. Select the Tools link to open the Tools section. This section of the Point of Sale Menu contains a single link, View Journal, which can be used to open the POS Journal and Receipt Viewer.

The POS Journal and Receipt Viewer screen displays a list of zip files that each represent a day's trade at the selected Site. This report can be filtered by date range in order to help find the journal or receipt that you are looking for. Information in the screen includes the Location, Terminal, Date and File Name for each zip file. A separate journal file is created for each terminal.

Click on a File Name link in order to access the receipts or journal for the Terminal on the Date. A popup menu appears allowing you to either view the receipts or the journal for the terminal on the day.

Selecting View Receipt opens a screen where all sales receipts are displayed for the terminal on the selected day.

Selecting View Journal opens a screen where displaying the Journal for the terminal on the selected day.

The Journal is a much more detailed view of what was happening in the terminal on the day. However if you wish to find a particular transaction it may be easier to search the receipts instead. Both tools allow you to go over the history of a terminal on a particular day, allowing you to identify problem transactions or other erroneous terminal behaviour.

In this short tutorial we have demonstrated the POS Journal and Receipt Viewer and described how the detailed views can be used to identify problems with your terminals or their use.
