Tutorial: Loyalty From a PDT Unit |
Zen Global Marketing provides software for PDT and PDA hand-held units to perform many Loyalty functions in the Portal. In this tutorial we will discuss how to use the hand-held unit to perform a these tasks.
Log into the PDT unit by entering the Site ID, Terminal ID, User ID and Password and press the OK button.
The Home menu is displayed, listing the categories of tasks that can be performed by the unit. The menu depends on what functions are enabled by your Company, but they include Loyalty, Procurement, Debtors, PDT Sales and Table Service. In this tutorial we will focus on the Loyalty functions in the PDT. The Home menu also provides a Logout link, allowing you to securely log out of the PDT.
Select Loyalty from the Home menu to open the Loyalty Menu. This menu contains links to each of the Loyalty function screens as well as a link that returns you to the Main Menu (Home menu) and a link to logout of the PDT Unit.
An Enquiry allows you to query the Portal for a member's points balance based upon their card number. Select the Enquiry link from the Loyalty Menu and you will be prompted for the card number. Enter it and press the Request button to send the enquiry to the Portal.
After you press the Request button, the Portal responds with details regarding the member. The details displayed in the PDT are the member's card number, their name, a total of their sales, their points balance and redeemed, the expiry date of their card and the date of their last sale. You can return to the Enquiry screen by pressing the New Request button.
If the requested card is not known in the Portal, a message is displayed stating the fact that the card was not found.
Use the breadcrumb links at the top of the PDT screen to return to the Home menu and then return to the Loyalty Menu by selecting Loyalty from the Home menu. The Transaction link allows you to make a sale for a member and attribute it to a department, but the transaction will not record item information. Enter the card number, select a department and enter the amount for the sale. Press the Process button to send the transaction to the Portal.
A message is displayed confirming that the transaction was completed successfully. Press the Done button to return to the Transaction screen, or use the breadcrumb to return to the Home menu and follow the Loyalty link to return to the Loyalty Menu.
The Item Transaction screen allows you to process a transaction for a member according to items. Enter the card number, item number and amount for the sale in the provided fields. Press the Process button to send the transaction to the Portal.
After the transaction has been processed, a message is displayed confirming the success of the operation. Press the Done button to return to the Item Transaction screen or use the breadcrumb link to return to the Home menu and navigate to the Loyalty Menu from there.
The Redemption screen is used to redeem points for a member. Enter the card number in the provided field and press the Check button.
The member's details are displayed on the screen, including the card number, member's name, points balance, card expiry date and date of the last sale. Enter the Points to be redeemed in the provided field and press the Redeem button to process the redemption.
A message is displayed to confirm the success of the redemption.
If the member does not have enough points to redeem, an error message says as much.
Use the breadcrumb links to return to the Home menu and log out of the PDT unit.
In this tutorial we have discussed how to use a hand-held unit such as a PDT to perform many of the common tasks involved in Loyalty. Making an enquiry, performing a sale and redeeming points are all operations that can be done by a PDT unit, allowing you to perform these functions on the move.
