Customers are the most important part of any business. Zen Global Marketing provides a way to monitor and reward customer spending habits (through Loyalty) and to target your customers with marketing strategies such as SMS or Email Advertising (through Marketing). In this tutorial, we will create a new customer in the Marketing database on the Portal and describe how easy it is to view and edit their information. In subsequent tutorials we will describe how to create forms and surveys for your customers so that you can gather more information about them, allowing you to design your marketing campaigns around your customers' interests.

 

If the Portal's Navigation Menu is not already in the Marketing Menu, start by navigating to the Marketing Menu by clicking the Menus link followed by Customer, Services and Marketing. Open Administration by clicking on the link and a drop-down list of menu items will be displayed. Click on New Customer to open the Marketing Customer Maintenance screen.

 

 

The Marketing Customer Maintenance screen contains two tabs. The Details tab lists all of the general information about a customer, such as their name, address, contact details, date of birth, card number and by what means and how often they wish to be contacted. You can use the Surveys tab to view a customer's responses to each of the surveys you have created. We will discuss marketing surveys in a later tutorial.

 

 

There are two columns of information in the Details tab of the Marketing Customer Maintenance screen. The left-hand column is for general information about your customer. Enter their title and name, contact phone and fax numbers, postal and email addresses, gender and date of birth in this column. The right-hand column is where you can assign a card number to the member, select how often and by what means the customer wishes to be contacted by you and enter any comments about the customer (for example a description to help remind you who they are). Press the Update button to save the new customer in the Portal.

 

You can view and edit customer details by selecting the Edit Customer link in the Marketing Menu. This opens the Find Customer screen that allows you to search for a customer by surname or mobile number.

 

 

Find your customer and click on the link to open the Marketing Customer Maintenance screen with their details displayed. This screen is similar to the New Customer screen except that the last time that the customer was contacted via SMS, Email and Mail Outs is listed in the right-hand column above the comments field. Enter any of the details in this screen and press the Update button to change the customer's details. View the customer's responses to your marketing surveys by clicking the Surveys tab followed by the link of your survey name.

 

 

In this tutorial we have investigated customer maintenance for the Marketing database. We have shown how to search for and edit customer details and how to create a new customer for the database. Later in this series of tutorials we will create a survey for your customers to respond to, and we will use their responses to target them in a correspondence such as an email out.
